STG Presents Consider Concert 2009 with Shawn McDonald, Ruth and Phillip LaRue.
The 2nd annual Consider Concert will be another celebration of life lived to the fullest. Inspired by the vibrant enthusiasm of Kim Evanger Raney whose life was unexpectedly shortened at the age of 26, we are reminded of the gift of each day. So we choose to gather together and celebrate life, taking a night to stop, breath deep, and think big.
ALL proceeds from the concert will go to The Kim Evanger Raney Foundation, which provides support to underprivileged youth in Seattle and around the world.
We are lucky to have the support of 3 unique and compelling artists at this year’s concert.
SHAWN McDONALD – a Seattle native, Shawn embodies the heart of Consider. His acoustic folk rock sound challenges you to think both lyrically and musically. Shawn himself says, “I think that’s the beauty of life—we’re all figuring it out. I want it to be that people come and it’s an experience and they learn something different every time. For me personally, when I go see an artist that’s what I want—I want to hear new things; I want to hear new thoughts and ideas; I want to hear growth.”
RUTH – Also with NW roots Ruth has toured with such bands as Switchfoot and RelientK. The combination of energy and soulfulness in their music makes them easy to love.
PHILLIP LaRUE – New to the scene as a solo artist, Phillip is as lyrically intriguing as they come. In his song Home he declares, “you only have one life to try to find out what it means to be alive” as Phillip tries to point a frustrated soul searcher toward something more concrete than the hectic city streets. LaRue states, “I still believe in the power of music and want people to find hope through this record. If I can throw a rock and make another ripple, then what a blessing.”
