STG & SJFF Silent Movie Mondays - The Ancient Law / Das Alte Gesetz (1923) at The Paramount Theatre on March 23, 2020 as a part of our 2019-2020 performing arts season. This is a special presentation in partnership with the 25th anniversary of the Seattle Jewish Film Festival.
This German film, directed by E.A. Dupont, tells the story of the son of an Orthodox Rabbi from a poor shtetl who breaks with family tradition and leaves to become an actor. A live ensemble will include Violinist/composer Alicia Svigals (founder of the Klezmatics), Pianist Donald Sosin, Clarinetist Laura de Luca (from Music of Remembrance).
