STG Presents On The Brink, a FREE documentary film screening event as part of the 2019 Nights at the Neptune: A People's Theatre Joint series on Thursday, August 15, 2019. Post film discussion featuring Kristi Brown, Damon Bomar, Carl Livingston, and Jesdarnel “Squirt” Henton.

Seattle’s Central District was the largest enclave of African Americans in the Pacific Northwest. The once-thriving community now finds its very existence threatened by change, which is tearing apart the social fabric of their neighborhood. With few African Americans left in the Central District, can they overcome the course of change before their community and its rich history vanish? On The Brink tells a universal story of a struggle to hold on to a sense of community in the face of change, and finding hope in a time of despair.

Jeff Shulman, Producer and Co-Director. Shulman is the award-winning producer of Seattle Growth Podcast and Marion B. Ingersoll Professor of Marketing at the UW Foster School of Business. As an expert on urban growth, Shulman has been interviewed by tv, radio, and print media across the country including the New York Times and CNN.

Steven Fong, Co-Director and Cinematographer. Fong is a University of Washington graduate and is beginning film school at Emerson College in the fall of 2019. Fong started making movies when he was eight years old, and since then, has made it his goal to create work that inspires people and changes lives.

Credits include Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Common, Fith Harmony, Mary J. Blige, and many others.
