STG Presents Silent Movie Sunday Special: The Ancient Law / Das Alte Gesetz (1923) at The Paramount Theatre on March 14, 2021 as a part of our 2020/2021 Performing Arts Season and in partnership with Seattle Jewish Film Festival.

Join us for a screening of The Ancient Law / Das Alte Gesetz (1923), with original score performed live by world-renowned klezmer violinist/composer Alicia Svigals, pianist/composer Donald Sosin and clarinetist Laura DeLuca.

This German film, directed by E.A. Dupont, tells the story of the son of an Orthodox Rabbi who breaks with family tradition when he decides to become an actor. Post-film discussion with film scholar Cynthia Walk of the Sunrise Foundation. ASL Interpretation provided.

Running time 135 min. Digitally restored film from Sunrise Foundation.
