“You gave me the chance to have the first actual week of summer doing something that I love the most and it made me so happy! I couldn't have been happier in such a warm, welcoming and artistic environment!”- STG's Songwriters Lab Participant, Age 17

“I learned to take risks in songwriting and expose myself, even if it made me vulnerable.” - STG's Songwriters Lab Participant, Age 14

Thank You!

Thank you for another fantastic year of STG’s Songwriters Lab!

STG's 11th Annual Songwriters Lab (Remix) culminated at the end of July with a successful virtual format that engaged 25 young songwriters and 5 guest professional musicians.

Guests shared insight into their unique journeys as professional artists and their writing techniques. With guidance from lead mentor Justin S. Davis, songwriters learned to attune their ears to the nuances and artistry of songwriting. Participants shared their personal songs and received constructive feedback, from both their peers and mentors. Guest artists included both local and out-of-state musicians: Sharon Van Etten, Ishmael Butler (Shabazz Palaces/Digable Planets), Eva Walker (Black Tones), Andrew Joslyn, and ParisAlexa (Songwriters Lab & More Music @ The Moore alum).

We can't wait to hear how this community grows with their new tools and connections!

Save the date for next year’s Lab in July 2021 - updates coming soon!

We look forward to offering this program again in the future! The estimated tuition is $100. Please consider making a contribution towards a student's participation and supporting STG in continuing important programs like this one.
