Seattle Theatre Group®'s Creative Aging Programs provide engagement opportunities for intergenerational participants and older adults—Boomers and beyond. STG will offer classes, workshops and performances that addresses the health and concerns of people from ALL stages of life. The programs described below range from free to low cost.
Dance with Life
Dance with Life classes are for people living with physical challenges. Using dance, imagery, narrative and community, students develop artistry and grace, while achieving improved balance and confidence, enhanced cognitive performance, and increased physical strength and control.
The classes inspire students to experience the grace, joy, creative expression and self-confidence dance brings to those who participate. Students of all levels of ability and mobility are invited to investigate movement and music in ways that stimulate their mind and body artistically, intellectually, physically and rhythmically.
Using live accompaniment, professional dancers who are accomplished and passionate teaching artists bring a high caliber of skill to each class. The classes also include elements of the Dance for PD® method developed by Mark Morris Dance Group and curriculum design is specific for each the community in which it is provided and the varied abilities of participants.
Dance with Life classes are offered in Seattle-area nursing homes and assisted living facility residents, their families, friends and caregivers.
Classes are one hour. No dance experience is required.
