EDUCATION & COMMUNITY PROGRAMS > Creative Aging Programs
Seattle Theatre Group®'s Creative Aging Programs provide engagement opportunities for intergenerational participants and older adults—Boomers and beyond. STG will offer classes, workshops and performances that addresses the health and concerns of people from ALL stages of life. The programs described below range from free to low cost.
Dance with Life
Dance with Life dance classes are offered in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and community centers for people living with physical and cognitive challenges. Using dance, imagery, narrative and community, students develop artistry and grace, while improving balance and confidence, enhanced cognitive performance, and increased physical strength and control.
The classes inspire students of all abilities and mobilities to experience the grace, joy, creative expression and self-confidence dance brings to those who participate. Students are invited to investigate movement and music in ways that stimulate their mind and body artistically, intellectually, physically and rhythmically.
Using live accompaniment, professional dancers who are accomplished and passionate teaching artists, bring a high caliber of skill to each class. Classes are one hour. No dance experience is required.
STG’s Dance with Life classes also include elements of the Dance for PD® method developed by Mark Morris Dance Group. The curriculum design is specific to the varied abilities of the participants of the community it serves.
