STG + Starbucks Up Next October 2018 Series

Starbucks and STG are proud to be long time partners. And because every young performer needs a stage to hone their skills, Starbucks is pleased to welcome STG aspiring musicians into their evening stores multiple times a year as part of the Up Next series.

These up and coming artists have participated in STG’s Songwriters Lab and More Music @ The Moore programs. Performing in the Up Next series gives them a chance to showcase their original works to a new audience and the community gets to hear the latest from our areas rising stars in their neighborhood Starbucks locations.

All performances are free and open to the public. Food & beverage available for purchase.

Lucas began playing guitar, acting, and singing at a young age, making his professional stage debut at Seattle Children’s Theatre in 2015. Since then, he has worked steadily on stage and in TV/Film. Whenever he has downtime, you can often find him playing guitar, composing songs, or scribbling lyrics. At the tail end of 8th grade, he formed a band with James McGough and Theo Wyman, called On a Friday (because they love Radiohead and often practice on Friday nights). On a Friday currently has a small EP out on Bandcamp, as well as two singles out on Spotify and iTunes. Over the last year, thanks to opportunities such as STG’s Songwriters Lab, Lucas has made leaps and bounds as a songwriter. Lucas is deeply grateful to perform as part of STG’s UpNext series. https://www.instagram.com/lucas.oktay/

Thursday, October 25, 2018: Sophia Cohen & Sophia Strauss
Starbucks Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room, 1124 Pike St, Seattle, WA 98101
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
No cover!

Sophia Cohen is 15 years young and couldn't imagine her life without music. Her parents always required she and her older brother to play at least one instrument, so music has been a massive influence on her throughout her life. Until last year, she considered herself a strict bathroom singer and bedroom guitarist. That changed after she got the amazing opportunity to connect with countless musicians, some of which she still gets to play with now, and finally sang in front of people during the STG Songwriters Lab in 2017. She uses music either to work out very personal challenges or to completely step out of life and her head, sometimes even taking on a character during the songwriting process.
