Love to sing? Whether you’re a seasoned performer, a former choir member, or just looking for a fun creative outlet, STG’s Local Vocals welcomes you. This community-focused singing group is open to all experience levels and musical backgrounds.
Our mission is simple: to bring people together through the joy of singing while building skills, confidence, and community through an engaging and supportive learning environment.
The ensemble is led by Gemma Balinbin, an accomplished opera singer, musician, and arts education professional whose work includes shaping programs such as the Seattle Opera Teen Vocal Studio and Youth Opera Project. Accompanying the ensemble is local composer and pianist Steven Luksan, who has collaborated with groups including Seattle Opera’s Veterans Choir and the Seattle Mannskor Norwegian Male Chorus. They may be accomplished in the Opera world, but they also know the pop culture hits!
What to Expect
- A wide variety of music, from classical and musical theatre to contemporary hits and pop arrangements.
- 7–8 week sessions each quarter with weekly 90-minute rehearsals.
- Performance opportunities each semester to share what we’ve created together.
- No auditions required. New singers will complete a brief voice placement to help determine their vocal range.
Who Can Join? Anyone age 14 and up is welcome. Reading music is helpful but not required. If you can follow a melody and enjoy singing with others, you’ll fit right in.

Box Office
For reduced fees, tickets to all STG venues may be purchased in-person at The Paramount Theatre Box Office, Monday through Friday, 10am to 6pm. For locations outside of the Paramount, Moore, Neptune, 5th Ave, Kerry Hall and Remlinger Farms. check the venue website.
