In 1992, retired Microsoft vice president Ida Cole was searching for a new passion and visited the Paramount to attend a rock show. Remembering her previous visits to the theatre she was enamored with its silent sophistication. Enlightened by a friend of the owner’s financial struggles, impending seizure by bankruptcy creditors and a possible demolition of the theatre she purchased the Paramount Theatre. Forming different corporations to purchase, restore and operate the grand movie palace she set about revitalizing Seattle’s crown jewel of historic theatres and bring it into the new millennium. Today the grand dame of Seattle Theatres continues to excite audiences.
