STG and On the Boards co-present Taylor Mac - Songs of the American Right at On the Boards in Seattle Thursday through Saturday, December 10 - 12, 2015.
Equal parts bedazzled shaman, searing social critic, radical angel and Elizabethan fool, TAYLOR MAC “doesn’t just defy categorization; he makes the categories themselves seem irrelevant” (Time Out NY). For the past 18 years, TAYLOR MAC has created internationally award-winning performance events that at once provoke and embrace his diverse audience. Taylor Mac's 24-Decade History of Popular Music is his most ambitious project to date - a subjective history of the past 240 years since America’s founding, told through the music of the times.
Mac's appearance at On the Boards, his first in Seattle in several years, will feature Songs of the American Right, a political and hilarious introduction to what will eventually be a 24-hour long performance work. A Taylor Mac show is like nothing you’ve ever witnessed: “Startlingly unique…a must see for anyone who wants to see a kinder, gentler society” (Huffington Post).
“Taylor Mac seduces you, breaks your heart, patches it back up again and sews sequins along the scars” (The Irish Times).
