DANCE THIS ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
DANCE This Artist in Residence is designed to support choreographers in the greater Seattle area in their artistic development of original work.
Deadline: February 20, 2026
The residency must be used to adapt, explore, and create a new ensemble work that will be premiered at STG’s DANCE This 28th Performance. Choreographers will provide showings throughout the process and be provided feedback from show producers and local industry artists.
All forms and styles of dance will be considered with an emphasis on artists of color, works that explore cultural backgrounds, history and/or traditions as well artists who have not had choreography previously presented for any Education + Community Engagement productions
Choreographer Will Receive
- Receive Mentorship and Advisory Support
- Choreography stipend of $1000.
- 30 hours of rehearsal space
- Cast of up to 5 dancers with a stipend of $400 each | $2000 budgeted.
- Costume stipend of up to $300.
- Lighting Design and Production Stage Manager for production week in July.
- Residency/Rehearsals may take place between March and June.
- Complimentary Tickets STG shows through ECE’s Community Promise (tickets based on availability).
Selection Process
All applicants will be reviewed by a panel consisting of DANCE This Producers, Education & Community Engagement Staff, and DANCE This Artist Alum. The Executive Producer of DANCE This will select applicant(s) based on feedback and recommendations from the panel as well as the makeup and theme of this year’s production.
