DANCE This Youth Choreographers Lab

STG Youth Choreographers Lab is a cohort of aspiring young choreographers selected through an application process. Participants meet monthly to be mentored, develop tools in choreography, and create original work. 

• Students will learn elements of dance, choreography, and creative tasks/prompts. 

• Local choreographers from various genres will share repertoire and personal process. 

• Each participant will propose a piece, including the number of dancers. Student choreographers may dance in their own work but are not required to. 

• Choreographers will use fellow participants as dancers, with additional volunteers from the Broadway + Performing Arts Workshop Series (BPAWS). 

• Participants must attend BPAWS and will have opportunities to see each featured show (if available). 

FINAL PRESENTATION 

• At the end of the 5-month series, choreographers will share a short work for friends and family. 

• Each piece may be up to 3-5 minutes long and include up to 4 dancers. 

• Guest Artist classes may be used as additional rehearsal time. 

PROGRAM GUIDELINES: 

• Must attend entire 5-month Workshop Series, 1 absence will be excused 

• Attend all BPAWS classes and DANCE This Spring Workshop provided by STG at no cost 

SAMPLE SCHEDULE: 

9:00: Check-in + Warm up 

9:30-11:00am: BPAWS Workshop   

11:00-11:15: Break 

11:15-11:30pm: Opening Activity 

11:30-12:30pm: Guest Mentor/Teacher   

12:30-1:00pm: Lunch Break   

1:00-2:15: Choreo Making   

2:15-2:30: Reflection/Closing
